MusicInOxford.co.uk and Audioscope present a special show for the Music For A Good Home 2 album launch party: the launch for the brand new Audioscope album raising money for Shelter, Music For A Good Home 2, featuring three of the bands who have contributed exclusive new tracks to the record.
Felix (Kranky Records): Sparse, unsettling and intimate piano-led chamber pop, touring second album Oh Holy Molar on Kranky. “Vocalist Lucinda Chua rarely raises her voice to a volume beyond that of a private conversation, yet her frequently arresting performances here have an air of unusual gravity. This urgency owes largely to the steady undercurrent of quiet turmoil coursing beneath Felix’s graceful arrangements, resulting in a number of lovely songs that veritably crackle with confused desires, anxieties, and needling self-doubt.” – Pitchfork
The Cellar Family: “At their most straightforward, their hissing polemic brings up the acid snap of early McLusky, though lighter moments like the supreme jolt of ‘Heaven’ even sound like Oxford’s pop heroes The Young Knives if they’d chosen to pursue the Dark Side instead of the Mercury Prize. If you like your music nasty, The Cellar Family have assembled the essential soundtrack to your next bad day.” – Nightshift
The Half Rabbits: Sounding like Smashing Pumpkins meeting The Doors, The Cure, and Joy Division in a dark alley, the Oxford-based foursome sing songs about hope, courage, and speaking straight from the heart. They believe that we should pull together instead of apart. They’ve received critical acclaim from such luminaries as Rolling Stone and Drowned in Sound. The band’s music and interviews have featured on a variety of national and international TV and radio shows such as MTV, TMF, BBC Radio, BBC TV and BBC 6 online.
