Jazz @ The Jam Factory is a new series of concerts to be held at the Jam Factory in Oxford on the first Saturday of each month. The series promoter Max Richardson says that the idea to launch the concerts was formed because “lots of people don’t want to go to the stalwart Oxford pubs and clubs just to have to shout over the music whilst being forced to collide with strangers”. He goes on, “it is for this reason that we hope people will appreciate the opportunity to see top quality live music in an informal, cool setting. We will be booking some of the most exciting acts on the UK jazz scene. Inspiring musicians who are also engaging and entertaining.”

So if a quiet and collision-free night of music is up your street, the first Jazz @ The Jam Factory concert takes place on Saturday 6 October. It’ll see former Oxfordian Theo Jackson performing with Reuben James (“fast becoming Britain’s best young jazz pianist”, according to The Times) along with James’ regular rhythm section of Alex Davis (double bass) and Euan Palmer (drums). The 19 year old James previously played as part of Abram Wilson’s band, headlining the Oxford Jazz Festival earlier in the year.
