Afrika Bambaataa is an important rap music pioneer who, much like Grandmaster Flash, is one of the elder statesmen of hip-hop. Bambaataa, whose name means “affectionate leader” also formed the famous Zulu Nation group. Alongside fellow pioneering legends of hip-hop like Public Enemy and Grandmaster Flash, Bambaataa remains one of the most iconic artists in the genre.
