Event Navigation
Braham Levy and David Menday have been singing together for many years now. Playing a mix of music from a variety of genres, their interest is in presenting acoustic versions of songs in a new way. Both also write their own songs and perform them together with songs, well known and new, from other writers.
Braham Levy is a singer/songwriter who originally hails from the East End of London but for the last 15 years (or so) has been a resident of West Oxfordshire. During this time he has been active in performing, organising and sound engineering music as part of Acousticana. Initially taught Piano, he picked up a guitar in his teens and has been writing songs ever since. David Menday has had a lifelong interest in folk and acoustic music and has performed in pubs, folk clubs and festival concerts. He plays a number of stringed instruments – most of which he has made.
Damian Clarke is known for his performances with the rock-folk band, Pressgang, which he founded in 1986. Since then he has toured in over 12 countries, made eight albums, and played everywhere from television to theatres, from festivals to street fairs. His musical mission is to perform traditional material, and to make it appeal to a wider
audience than the folk scene, especially for younger ears. He is a supporter of the movement
to protect minority cultures from extinction, as he values variety. He sings small nation language songs such as Irish, Plat Deutsch, and Breton, and is fascinated by cultures meeting and cross fertilizing. This can also be seen in his artwork which can be seen here. He likes to challenge pre-conceptions in music and art, to illustrate new thoughts, to encourage and inspire.
