Evidently… John Cooper Clarke – live! @ Phoenix Picturehouse, Oxford
Thursday 3 October 2013, 6:15 pm - 9:00 pm
£15 (full price) / £12 (members) / £13 (concessions)
On National Poetry Day the incomparable John Cooper Clarke, in a one-off live broadcast from Newcastle’s Tyneside Cinema, answers questions in interview and presents Evidently… John Cooper Clarke, a film about his life including contributions from Bill Bailey, Steve Coogan and the Arctic Monkeys.
The punk poet and Bard of Salford has been writing and performing his own brand of hysterically funny, scathingly political and often deeply moving poetry for four decades. He started out in the mid-1970s in smoke-filled and often hostile working men’s clubs, but was discovered by a new audience with the emerging Manchester music scene, finding himself billed alongside bands such as Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks, The Clash and Joy Division. Forty-odd years later he is still playing sold-out shows nationwide.
