This concert marks the 50th birthday of Oxford-based composer Martyn Harry, St Hilda’s College’s lecturer in music, who is best known for works such as ‘Fantasy Unbuttoned’, ‘Regenstimmen’, ‘The Spell’ and dramatic works such as ‘My Mother Told Me Not To Stare’. Our programme features two works from his two-hour piano cycle, ‘48’, performed by Jonathan Powell; a song cycle based on texts by Anna Akhmatova and a newly-commissioned string quartet performed by the Cavaleri Quartet.
