John Burgess has spent time on the jazz scenes of San Francisco, London, Vancouver and latterly his home of Edinburgh. Over 20 years, John has worked with the likes of Harry Beckett, Liam Noble, Andy Sheppard, Jim Mullen and Mario Castronari in the UK and in the US has recorded with top names on the west coast scene, the great pianist, Henry Franklin Jnr, to name but one. With a big sound and a sly musical wit, John seems to be able to cover all the territory from r’n’b to contemporary jazz with complete conviction. A big man from the North with a big sound.
