Jacqueline du Pré Music BuildingHarry: Chamber Intimacy

Kurtag: Kafka Fragments

JdP Featured Artist Loré Lixenberg, renowned for her work in contemporary music, brings us a complete performance of György Kurtág’s gripping Kafka Fragments with violinist Aisha Orazbayeva. Composed over many years, these fragments – ranging in length from a few seconds to several minutes – set by turns bizarre, subversive, and profoundly moving texts drawn from the writings of author Franz Kafka.

To open the programme, JdP Artistic Director Martyn Harry joins Loré to perform his piece Chamber Intimacy. A song cycle on six poems by Anna Akhmatova, the first complete performance of this piece was given in the same St Petersburg building in which the poetry was written.
