Inspired by the traditional sounds and rhythms of the ‘twa’ pigmies of the region, Mulele Matondo and his ten-piece orchestra aim to heal our spirit and entrance us to dance. Heavily vocal-based, they boast five-part vocal harmonies whilst guitars bring the hypnotic sound of the sanza fused with jazz riffs, percussion and drums bring grooving polyrhythms into the melting pot.

Featuring much the same line up of musicians as the band Congo Dia Ntotila who played at Bossaphonik two years ago, this time they play new material written by Mulele. He released the bands’ debut album Prophecy in 2012 and since then the band has been working at writing far more upbeat music as will be on display for this gig.
