Event Navigation
Kansas born, London-based art school graduate and sassy, indie pop scenester Piney Gir will strike a pose as part of Ashmolean’s Dress Up LiveFriday event, bringing her summery style and sunny disposition to the stage in Ashmolean’s vaulted café.
Growing up in isolation in the American Midwest, Piney Gir followed a strict Pentecostal upbringing in Wyandotte County where her father enforced a ban on television and modern music in their household. This left a lot to young Piney’s imagination, which flourished to fill in all the gaps with a fun and straightforward, feel-good country sound, and prompted Piney to go to University to study percussion, only robbers stole her drums, so she changed her major to voice; “They can’t steal your voice!” she reckoned. After graduating Piney migrated from America’s Sunflower State to England, where her musical career blossomed.
This gig follows the Dress Up LiveFriday event that takes place from 7.00 pm to 10.30 pm. This event sees Ashmolean invite visitors to put on their finery and explore summer chic through the ages. Receiving a passport on arrival, visitors will set off around the world in style on an alluring voyage through the museum featuring live photo shoots, runway shows, express fashion sketching and more…
