Sam Carter was the best newcomer at BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2010. He has toured supporting the mighty Seth Lakeman. Time Out said he could play the guitar ‘like a harp’ and he has a beautiful, pure soulful folk voice. Guitarist magazine have likened him to John Martyn in his complex and intricate guitar parts and the realistic romanticism of his songwriting. His tunes are contemporary narrative based songs. And for melody he brings in gospel, shapenote and work song influences.
