The Lords Of Thyme came together after Joe Woolley, Tali Trow and Pat Kenneally wandered out through the wyrd wicker revolving door of Michael Tyack’s Circulus and headed for the city to create something more urbane. Joined by the angel-voiced Michelle Griffiths, in short order they produced an EP and a 7” vinyl single mixed by John Wood (Fairport Convention, Nick Drake), garnering a volley of positive reviews.
In April the group took their shimmering, swaying sounds around the UK, enthralling folkies both old and new, before revealing their psychedelic colours backing label-mate Balduin at his only UK appearance at the Soar Angelic Festival in May. The Lords collaborated with folk legend Bonnie Dobson in July to contribute a song to Shirley Collins Inspired, an album of tributes to the grand dame of folk music to accompany the forthcoming film The Ballad Of Shirley Collins.
